the most important book of my life.

I just reread this with one of my 4th grade students and I loved it every bit as much as I did the first time. Kit is an amazing heroine. My students are obsessed with love stories and this is perfect for upper elementary.

A bit older and the back and forth between the guys interested in different people wasn’t so interesting to me. Easy read. Quakers and people who swim = witches. Just kind of meh.

This was one of my favorites as a kid, and I was delighted that my 7th grader is reading it now for class. I picked up his copy and read it cover to cover it in 3 hours, delighted to find that my old friends Kit, Nat, Hannah and Mercy are as courageous and satisfying as ever.

I don't know how I missed reading this as a child. It is the story of a young girl out of place in Puritan New England who encounters hard work, rigid ideals, and prejudice. A nice blend of history and of finding and following ones heart, it was well worth the time to read.

I've wanted to read this since about fifth grade, so it would be no surprise that it didn't live up to expectations.

Just too predictable and unrealistic. In some ways it felt like reading a Sunfire romance (a Newbery-winning Sunfire romance!)--and reminiscing about those with friends may have been the best part of finally reading it.

My favorite historical fiction book.

Excellent historical fiction for middle school. Kit is a feminist in the time of Puritans.
Loveable characters: Yes

Quick, easy and entertaining. All in all a good read.
