This book did a really great job at capturing the struggles of multiple things. The complexities of friendships women have when their simultaneously dealing with insecurity. Phones and social media. Being plus sized, trying to find clothing any analyzing every photo taken. It was very well written! I also didn't know who I could or couldn't trust. It kept me hooked until the very end.

Mood reader here! I listen to a lot of audio books and this one I read a physical copy while on vacation. That was the move.

I will also say for the first half of the book, I was wondering: “Where is this all going?”

In my regular life I might not have had the patience to wait for the plot to thicken until I was half finished with the book, but “vacation me” was along for the ride and I was here for it.

A fun and easy read. Likeable characters and the story took turns I didn't expect which made it extra fun.

I was debating whether I should give this a 2 or three star, but after the ending it is definitely a 2.
I think the author was trying to do too much and, bottom line, was trying too hard. I feel like this book tried to be a lot of things and encompass a lot of genres, but it got messy and did not do those things well. The start was really slow and looked like a “woman’s fiction”/contemporary, then it turned into a mystery/romanceand was overall very weird.
I think if the author had chosen a path and followed it, instead of trying to do a lot of things with the story, this could have been a lot better. Do not recommend.

Unfortunately, I would have to categorize "Big Summer" as a big let-down. The book changed genre dramatically, and the whiplash from that left me confused, annoyed, and rushing to the end.

While Jennifer Weiner starts off with a book about body-positivity and forgiveness, it appears she forgot that theme, and just went rogue for the final half.

Can't say I recommend it.

I think everyone who is struggling with how to self love should read it, and I think for me it came in the best moment. Also, the plot twist it has is just mind blowing! Go read now
