I really did enjoy this book. Such a quick and easy read. This is my first book by Kiera Cass. Although other books by this author are waiting in my shelves, I just felt like reading a standalone novel. This book was not a disappointment!
I really liked the plot, it is interesting and makes us want to keep reading. The girls are very relatable, their behaviours, wants and needs are well befitting their ages. The love story is very adorable, innocent and young. I also appreciate the way the story explores the love/hate relationship between the girls and Ocean - Ocean is portrayed as being good and bad, cruel and kind, possessive and understanding the same amount.
The only negative thing that I can point is the way the ending is rushed. I spent so much time watching Kahlen being depressed and making everyone around her miserable, and towards the end, when we needed a little more time do process everything that is happening, the plot just moves along so quickly that I think that some of the magic is stolen from the readers

Don’t get me wrong, I LOVED this book—but—it has some issues. First and foremost, it’s way to short, after reading its as if it was just a magazine, I wish it was a series to infinity and beyond. Second, the plot had a lot of gaps, like where did the girls get money? Solely from paintings? She must be really famous than! As well as the fact that the ocean was obsessed with her only for the reason she actually talks to Her? Kinda iffy plot point in my opinion. Finally, every bit of romance ached deep in my heart, the thing is, there wasn’t much—I don’t exactly wish for more—it’s just that half the book was her being depressed and the other half her being confused about what to do and her feelings. Maybe .4% percent is romance? I said it was fast pace—I mean-yeah.
Moderate: Death
Minor: Physical abuse, Abandonment, Car accident, Confinement, and Death of parent

This is my favorite Kiera Cass book. This book is very easy to read, so it won’t feel like a pain to have to read through. The plot can be figured out quickly as the story is kind of basic. I really loved the ending.
