Fascinating and weird, as all the best things are. In this universe, the toxoplasmosis parasite has mutated so that when it infects young girls, it lives asymptomatic until menstruation starts. At that time, a werewolf-like transformation occurs and these girls become as feral and violent cats, targeting men and boys.

The entire volume encapsulates the poorly informed young girls, the terror of their families as they approach puberty, the ham-fisted efforts at public health, the horror-porn of the clickbait reporting of cat attacks. In many ways, the story mocks our own society's difficulties dealing with menstrual horrors, even of a more mundane sort. In all, I found this amusing.
