Assigned reading for my son at school and I have never read it. I didn't care for the end; I don't think Mr.Popper should have gone to the arctic.

I probably would have given this 5 stars solely for enjoyment until the very end.

Mr. Popper has always dreamed of being an artic explorer but since he is a husband and father, he has responsibilities at home. Instead of going to the artic, a part of the artic comes to him. He is shipped a penguin from the South Pole. Soon there are many penguins and a performing act is born.

Simply adorable. I'm so jealous of those that read this as a child. The perspective reading it as an adult can't possibly compare to the joy that a child must feel reading this for the first time.
