This was almost virtually like stalking Jack the Ripper but less love story and mystery. I think it’s the better version of that book. It’s about a girl in the 1800s who wants to be a surgeon.

“My heart is yours, Hazel Sinnett,
Forever. Beating or still.”

THIS! This was absolutely all the vibes I wanted Stalking Jack the Ripper to be. It's gothic, it's gory, there's a mystery, and a sweet romance. I was a Hazel stan from the opening scene when she was trying to resurrect a dead frog like Frankenstein. I was rooting for her so hard from start to finish. I loved Hazel more than I loved the overall romance, but there weren't any aspects I disliked enough for this to be less than a 5 star because it gave everything I could've wanted from that synopsis. And (unpopular opinion?) I think the ending was great! It was dramatic and gave me just enough to want to read the second book as soon as I can get my hands on it.
