Inferno was not an easy read by any means. Both by topic and by verse, Inferno is difficult to get through. I can only imagine the banger of a poem this was when it came out as it seems to be a lowkey theological roast of a bunch of prominent figures. There were some really good lines in here and depictions of true despair. I think I'd be more interested in a relatively modern retelling/translation, as again, this was really difficult for me to understand, even with the hundreds of footnotes.

This book tells you mostly about Dante's personal opinions about politics, people, and mythological characters. And his ideas about what sins are truly the worst (killing a bunch of people is by far not the worst, apparently). Also, if you were born before Jesus Christ or lived in an area where you have not heard of him, you are now in hell. Bad luck.
Also, so many opinions about so many popes.
