Was this the BEST writing ever? No. Did Lottie drive me nuts? A little, yeah. Did I eat up the whole damn thing? Yes. I almost wanted to snort and roll my eyes at the first quarter of the book but honestly? I loved the characters’ chemistry. I was dying of laughter, swooning when we were in Huxley’s POV, and enjoying every moment they had together. I couldn’t help it— sue me. The spice was pretty damn tasty too, duh. xx

When I read the blurb, the plot sounded interesting, but the mixed reviews made me a little nervous. But I knew it was all a matter of opinion, so I went for it.
Lottie was relatable, but I also felt she was a bit too quirky and childish for my taste. However, I liked that she could tell when she’d gone too far, and would take steps to correct it.
At first, my biggest problem was with Huxley. He was a jerk when he had no reason to be, and that was a turn off. Maybe it’s because I’m not very used to the alpha male trope, and maybe it’s not my cup of tea. But like with Lottie, he was intuitive and came to realize his attitude had an effect on other people.
Despite my reservations, this was still a fun and entertaining read. I got a good laugh here and there, and I have to admit part of me liked seeing Lottie push Huxley’s buttons and put him in his place.
When it came to that third act conflict, I liked that it wasn’t the typical “one person misunderstands something and the other has to prove themself” cliche. Huxley messed up badly, and he realized that. And what made it better was that Lottie didn’t forgive him right away, so he had to work for it.

Oooooo I love Hux and Lottie so much! The banter between them was so good! I love Meghan Quinn's books for the banter between her characters lol and yessss the spice was spicing lol
