Katherine of Aragon, The True Queen by Alison Weir is a free NetGalley ebook that I read in mid-May.
The life of Queen Catherine is told in three parts: as a Castilian princess sent to marry Henry VIII's brother, Arthur, and, later, Henry when he inherits the throne; as an English queen besotted completely with her king; and a queen dethroned and deposed by Anne Boleyn. Through the many chapters that take up these parts, her words and actions are seeped in pathos; of girlishness, charm, admiration, poise, and eventually dismay, shock, rage, weariness, and sorrow. These highs and lows can be quite mercurial, but Weir does her best to explain Catherine's side of the story.

This is a work of historical fiction. The author has told us each private thought with zero evidence.
It just kept going on and on. Where was the dramatisation? Like i get its a historical fiction but it was too much history not enough fiction. Kept telling myself too hold out till Anne Boleyn’s arrival but nothing was happening and there were still so many words
Prvý krát som čítala (resp. počúvala) knihu z tohto žánru a som veľmi prekvapená, ako ma to chytilo. História nie je moja najsilnejšia stránka, o Jurajovi som si myslela, že bol proste prelietavý a zbavoval sa manželiek. Je zaujímavé sa takto dozvedieť, čo ho k tomu viedlo. Pri knihe som stále rozmýšľala, či by som si aj ja dokázala tak stáť za svojím. A mimochodom, tento český prebal je nádherný. Pučúvala som knihu síce v audioverzii, ale toto je prvá séria kníh, ktorú chcem mať doma naozaj aj fyzicky. Teším sa na ďalšie diely!
