Such an interesting concept and the play on Alice in Wonderland! I like how we are learning the rules of the game and the world as the characters are-it keeps us on edge. I think Chota is supposed to be the comic relief character, but boy does he annoy me!

I really loved this book. I fell in love with the story because of the TV show, but I really love how the manga shows new elements and characterization that we don’t really get in the show.

so aside from the misogyny & over-sexualization of the few women in this first installment, I really loved this. having watched the show I already know everything that should happen and so far I’m not mad at the netflix adaptation.
I like how some things are kept a mystery in the show (such as borderland being a place & not a dream or some disassociation), but I love the very obvious alice in wonderland references that start at the beginning in this manga - in the show, the references WERE there but they became more clear once the show went on. I like some of the changes they made character-wise in the show (specifically the stronger female characters. I didn’t even notice that the usagi was usagi while reading because she was SO different. she was in a short schoolgirl outfit and didn’t look strong/athletic at all - I appreciate how the actress looked like a mountain climber & dressed & acted as such. and shibuki….she’s so unnecessarily sexualized. like….why…) but I like how karube is depicted in the manga better. I also really like how the meaning behind this entire story is abundantly clear in like the first chapter. (although it isn’t written out, it’s obvious from the dialogue & arisu’s inner thoughts. the present text will tie in so nicely to the ending) i prefer that over the show slowly revealing it.
I think that this series is so creative and I can’t wait for the rest of the series to be published in english! I just desperately wish male creatives would chill out on oversexualizing their female characters.
