Even with out knowing anything about this before starting, I had higher expectations. This was one of the most 'meh' manga Ive read in a long while. None of the characters are what I'd call likable, or really even all that interesting.
The plot, didn't have any set up. We're kind of just thrown into it along with the characters which usually wouldn't be an issue if the world was more interesting. At least not for me.
With characters that I don't particularly care about and a world that I don't find all that interesting, this just isn't for me.

I read this because I liked the show so much. What can I say? It was amazing!
The Story overall is very interesting and you want to continue because you're intrigued to know what the next game is and why the characters are even here in the first place.
In my opinion, some of the characters have more depth than in the show and are much more sympathetic.
Since I read the Manga in german, I felt like the translation was a little bit weird in some places. What I also don't like is the sexualisation of the women, thats why it's only a 4 not 5-Star for me.

I really loved this book. I fell in love with the story because of the TV show, but I really love how the manga shows new elements and characterization that we don’t really get in the show.

so aside from the misogyny & over-sexualization of the few women in this first installment, I really loved this. having watched the show I already know everything that should happen and so far I’m not mad at the netflix adaptation.
I like how some things are kept a mystery in the show (such as borderland being a place & not a dream or some disassociation), but I love the very obvious alice in wonderland references that start at the beginning in this manga - in the show, the references WERE there but they became more clear once the show went on. I like some of the changes they made character-wise in the show (specifically the stronger female characters. I didn’t even notice that the usagi was usagi while reading because she was SO different. she was in a short schoolgirl outfit and didn’t look strong/athletic at all - I appreciate how the actress looked like a mountain climber & dressed & acted as such. and shibuki….she’s so unnecessarily sexualized. like….why…) but I like how karube is depicted in the manga better. I also really like how the meaning behind this entire story is abundantly clear in like the first chapter. (although it isn’t written out, it’s obvious from the dialogue & arisu’s inner thoughts. the present text will tie in so nicely to the ending) i prefer that over the show slowly revealing it.
I think that this series is so creative and I can’t wait for the rest of the series to be published in english! I just desperately wish male creatives would chill out on oversexualizing their female characters.

i watched the show on netflix first and one thing i have to say is that that casted SO WELL!!! i’m absolutely blown away with how they casted, anyway this review isn’t about the show it’s about the manga. i’m truly loving the manga and i flew right through the first volume and i’m immediately starting on the 2nd and literally bought the 3rd volume tonight and i’m picking it up tomorrow haha

this story is dense and full of violence so i would watch out for this triggers, there’s a lot of layers to this story and if you’re lost when you’re done reading i highly recommend watching the show it does a great job at explaining and adding more information
