I started this book with no expectations and it took me by surprise. Until I hit about 30% in, I was iffy about it. It wasn’t very unique, cheesecake was a dumb name for a cat, and I wasn’t really about the whole bisexual thing going on (nothing wrong with that, just not my thing). But then it got GOOD. This book was so immersive, I kept seeing things in the corner of my eye and got physically spooked. The smut was also great IMO. It had a great, “happy ever after” ending that I adored. Rae was a little annoying but man was she a trooper. I would have gladly handed over my soul to Leon after the cemetery chapter (iykyk) and seeing the first Eld.
Definitely one of my new favorite books. Spooky, sexy, and enjoyable all around.

I liked the author's imagination with the monsters and demons and overall tone of the book. It was dark and otherwordly. Writing was also very good and engaging. I really enjoyed this story.

Won this book in a Goodreads giveaway. Besides the spicy scenes which were a bit cringy at times, I honestly loved everything about this book and the dark academia vibes I felt while reading.

I loved Leon and Rae’s relationship. They weren’t enemies to lovers which a lot of people say they were. Leon learned that he loved Rae and Rae went from “leave me alone” to “take all of me”. I loved the slow burn and Leon making sure Rae had a safe word. He was biggggg on consent and I loved it so much! The sex was hottttt and I will always recommend a romance/dark romance book someone who KNOWS what they are talking about!
