Holy fucking shirt balls - that ending and cliffhanger had me gagged!
This was such a well done high stakes fantasy that has incredible complex characters that are so well fleshed out.
I loved Dianna as our main character - she was such a morally grey bad ass that you couldn't help but root for. I loved her relationship with her sister and I loved seeing her grappling with her change of allegiances and I loved seeing her slow burn relationship play out.
The way the world and backstories were woven throughout out this plot was so well done, it perfectly sets up an overarching plot whilst still focusing on the main task of this book. The transition from enemies to lovers was absolutely flawless - and I was worried because we truely do start off as enemies. The payoff was fantastic. The banter between them was on point and I was living for it.
Kaden was such a great villain as well. So many times I have read a fantasy book and the villain feels very one dimensional this is not the case here and I'm so intrigued to get more of his back story in the next books.
I wish we got more of backstory with other side characters but I'm assuming that will come along with the rest of the series. There was a few scenes or moments that didnt make complex sense especially the catacombs journey.

Just bad writing, I mean a paragraph on the smell and amount of a man’s hair gel.
