I was super disappointed in this book, as it was a 5 star prediction. It may have been timing. I ended up reading it while I was going through some scary stuff and I was not really in a reading mood - as you can see, it took me awhile to get through it. I am giving it a 3 star rating. Every time I thought it was going to start getting good, it got boring again.... repeat, repeat, repeat.

You don't even meet the main character until a third of the way in and they don't even start talking until almost half way through. That is not a slow burn - that is just a non-existant romantasy. I did not understand the world at all. I listened and read at the same time (tandem read it).

This has been one of the most painful reading experiences I have ever had. The amount of redundant writing there was, is ridiculous. The writer repeats themselves so much it's like they know the reader is skipping over the useless information to just get through the pages and pages of filler. And speaking of filler. There are at least 2 maybe 3 occasions where 25 - 30 pages / 4 chapters are literally just of the main characters wandering around night clubs or going to carnivals. Which doesn't sound like a lot, but when your book is this long it's insanely redundant.
This book does not need to be over 500 pages long, the story can easily be condensed into 200 pages, but clearly there was a word count the writer needed to achieve.
I would not recommened this book, it takes too long to go through such a predictable and poorly written story.

I really wanted to like this book.... I really did. But I just could not. I wasn't a fan of the MC, though she seems very cool and all, and neither was I of any other character. I felt a surge of interest for Logan and that was during Chapter 12 I think (don't come for me if that's not the correct chapter - since I am trying to avoid spoilers overall). But yeah. I'm glad that most on here enjoy it - I wish I could have been, too. The plot also felt too stretched and for the majority of the book I did not see it going anywhere. Also, some of the dialog felt too.... unnatural? I don't feel like anyone talks like that.
