Oh I love Ezra and Kimba and I love that they found their happy ending together no matter the journey they had to take to get there. I knew I was going to be obsessed with their relationship when Ezra said, “I don't just want you when you're strong. I want you when you're vulnerable, when you're lost, when you're not sure. I see the armor you have to put on to make it in your world. I just want you to know here, with me, you can take the armor off.". Their relationship just melted my heart because they supported each other through so many things. They experienced so much of life without each other but acknowledged that the kids who grew up together has grown into such beautiful adults fighting for what they wanted.

I really thought that Lennix and Maxim were going to be more present in the book, but I am glad that Queen Move focused on Ezra and Kimba.

I don’t even know where to start with this book. When I read the first paragraph, I knew I’d love it — I already predicted a 4-star read (I’m picky about my 5-stars).

I loved the chapters of their childhood, it was touching and emotional. Then I got to reading further, read between the lines — knew how it hurts to see the person you love have a happy life without you. This book is packed with so many emotions, I found myself always on the verge of tears even at the simplest exchanges between the characters. This was a perfectly executed friends-to-lovers, second-chance romance (?) book.

Nonetheless, the plot is a 4-star for me. I wished I’d seen more of Noah with Kimba because they had natural chemistry and it would have been fun to see them bond. What made Queen Move a 5-star was how powerful it was, it not only included but spoke of so many important matters (racism, feminism, biases, politics, heritage, religion, and even touches a bit on LGBT+), there was so much diversity packed in 300 pages.

But in all honesty, I wasn’t sure of my rating simply because their unconventional situation was keeping me on edge, it was uncomfortable for me to fathom. I didn’t agree with Kimba and Ezra being together despite Mai, I know I wouldn’t do such thing if I were in her shoes (not that there was anything wrong with doing that, I’m just not the kind of person who’d go through with it) — I’d sacrifice my heart and my chance at love, rather than deal with that kind of set-up. I debated with myself, digged deep (like I always do, to get to the bottom of the most fair answer/decision) and realized, it wouldn’t be so different from marrying a divorced man/woman who had kids with their ex. So in the end, I knew I could live with that realization/analogy(?), since I see it everyday anyway both in fictiona and in real life.

Kennedy Ryan snuck up on me, I thought this was your usual steamy romance novels and the emotions that this book pulled-out of me were so unexpected. I highly recommend this book! I’ll definitely read more of Kennedy’s books in the coming weeks.

i wasn’t as invested as i was in the lennoxmaxim duology but i think it makes sense because i’m a sucker for second chance romance and we got to see their whole relationship over the years.
I’ll say that i enjoyed the fact that Ezra and Kimba were childhood friends though (childhood love?) .

They also had great chemistry

« I think I fell in love with her every day for the first thirteen years of my life, and as soon as I saw her again, my heart just remembered »

« I’m only half without you. »

i did skip some scenes tho (sry)

and i guess - not everything can be easy but it made me pretty sad that Kimba and Ezra lost so many years and when they find each other again and are ready to try to be together, they separate for another year while Kimba focuses on her job and Ezra raises a baby with his ex….

I don’t like surprise babies from ex girlfriends. Otherwise, they were adorable!
