Tämä ei ollut niin mielenkiintoinen seikkailu kuin kuvittelin sen olevan. Kirja oli kuitenkin sujuva ja eteni nopeasti.

Not sure how I feel about someone acting like a complete fool then getting a book and movie deal out of it. But it was mildly entertaining towards the end at least.

I wish it had been meatier; more literature, more reflection. It felt mainstream in a way I didn't care for.

The three stars I give this book are to acknowledge and honor Cheryl's brave story of discovery and healing. As a fellow female, I deeply empathize and am inspired by ANY woman's story of audacity, self-reflection, and the desire & ability to overcome physical and emotional pain.

The two additional stars I don't give this book are to critique her writing skills that are anything but extraordinary and her over inclusion of non-essential details.

A more personal critique is that she views herself way too often in the eyes of men and could have greatly benefited from an extended period of celibacy and focus on self-love and compassion.

Her podcast Dear Sugar is great; much recommended over this book.

Cheryl and I are VERY different people, but I appreciate her honesty when sharing her life experiences. I was very worried for her throughout the book and respect her for being a solo female hiker in a time before cell phones.
