I was so excited to get to know Amberly better, how she was before she became the queen. I was kind of hoping to see Clarkson to be someone who possesses some kind of humane qualities, at least before he became the king. To see that he was as manipulative is kind of disappointing and to read how Amberly seems to be blind to it is even more so. I get that sometimes people love despite the bad qualities of their partner, but it is hard to symphatise with a character that seems to be so oblivious to red flags and drowned in their own fairy-tale fantasy.
