I did not hate this book, but I did not love it either. I found the whole story rather bizarre and unsatisfying in its conclusion (as non-fiction must all too often be to remain non-fiction), but enjoyed learning some things I never would have otherwise. Who knew there was a whole branch of the black market being kept alive by grown men who want pretty feathers in order to make fishing lures they will never actually use to fish? The main thing I didn't like about this book was the author's tone. It's like he has a giant chip on his shoulder and that bitterness (condescension? sanctimoniousness?) comes through in his writing.
