OK, about the same as his others, but I found the violence (almost inherent in a "police procedural" mystery) a bit more disturbing, perhaps because is involved (albeit potentially) the main character's 14-year-old daughter. Also a bit disturbing that she could be so coldly calculating, even in defense of her family.
I don't know how I feel about this book. It seemed more disjointed than I normally find the works of John Sandford. It was interesting, and a fairly quick/easy read, but not as flowing as I would have preferred.

Lucas and his crew keep busy when the Republican National Convention comes to town. An enjoyable audio though the secondary plotline featuring Letty was a bit overdone. The narration by Richard Ferrone was excellent as usual.
I like Sandford, and he can write a fast paced quick read, but I just feel like the last few Prey books have become a little formulaic, a little predictable, a little stale. I wouldn't mind one once in a while where we don't know who the bad guys are and see them plotting while Davenport hunts them down. This one especially felt like less was at stake even though there were some murders; I don't know exactly why but I wasn't as invested in the investigation.
The main plot line was decent, but I really liked the parts with Letty. Overall good read.

Not one of the better books in the Prey series. Mostly due to one of the most unbelievable, idiotic sub-plots I've seen from Sandford: Lucas Davenport's adopted 14-year old daughter, Letty, is an intern at a tv station and now off hunting down prostitutes and setting up criminals...which Davenport essentially accepts if not encourages. Please.
