I really enjoyed this book! Daphne du Maurier just has a way of transporting you into a dark, moody, atmospheric world that is simply unmatched. Her characters felt alive (especially Joss, oh my goodness). The way she described Jamaica Inn in the first couple of chapters was just insane. She has a crazy way of just painting dread and uneasiness. The only thing I didn’t like about it was Mary’s relationship with her uncle, Joss. Her being extremely opinionated and bold with him just wasn’t realistic, nor convincing. Apart from that, I had a lot of fun (and anxiety) reading this!!

A beautifully written product of its time.
My first venture into Du Maurier didn't disappoint.
Following the story of Mary who after the loss of her mother, moves in with her aunt Patience and uncle my marriage who leaves much to be desired. Something sinister is stirring at the Jamaica Inn and Mary wants nothing more than to save her aunt from its clutches.
A slow burn mystery full of atmospheric tension, this was a treat.
I would advise new readers to go in knowing full well the attitudes towards gender is hugely outdated.

Oli päris põnev, ainult pikad olustikukirjeldused tüütasid. Väga pikad ja lüürilised.

An exciting book full of twists and turns but I can’t help feeling slightly disappointed with the ending. Definitely a page turner, albeit a product of its time.
Love me a bit of Daphne. Also loving reading books in the same seasons they're set. Atmospheric af
Awesome. Wish there was more gothic novels out nowadays. Guess I have to write it myself, haha.
