Wow! What a thrilling read this was indeed! One if the best thrillers I have read, although have not read copious amounts, this one definetely did it for me on an engagement level. It was a true page turner and I kept wanting to find out more.
The character developments in this were pretty well done although the reason I knocked one star off was also because thought there were a lot of questions left unanswered for some of the characters and their stories. Although I do find this is quite common in mystery/thriller books as it is difficult to paint a huge enough picture in this genre. But out of all the ones I have read in this genre, this book felt the most complete and fulfilled regardless of the unpolished character storylines.
The writing was amazing and easy to follow and read. The plot twist was something else...I literally voiced out a big "woaa" out loud when I read the ultimate twist! Throughout the entire story I thought I was intelligent enough to work everything out and had many theories but the actual ending was defo not one of them!
Alex Michaelides definitely has a way to keep you gripped and trick you in such a mastermind way when you least expect it and to think this was a debut novel! I look forward to keeping an eye out for more books by him!

I think this is more of a 3 1/2 for me. I was definitely hooked for most of the book, but actually (which is SO rare for me) guessed the ending. That said, still a great read!

was hesitant going into this since I’ve heard such mixed reviews about it. It’s not my favourite type of thriller - I definitely prefer faster-paced action thrillers. The twist was quite good although I did predict it maybe three chapters before the reveal. It was well pulled off though. Overall appreciated it but not my favourite
