Absolutely loved this book, truly a great read that focused more on when McQueen was alive than most books and included countless points I hadnt read elsewhere. Well written, lots of dates to base the timeline and informational

Very sad and sobering story of a genius that was tormented by childhood trauma and his inability to trust people. McQueen had incredible talent, fame and huge wealth from his fashion label, but more than that he was an artist. None of it was enough to stop him ending his life.

Heartbreaking, beautiful, and wonderful. Rare is it that a book can make me tear up, but this one certainly did. Even if fashion is not necessarily your "thing" this book is incredibly insightful and yet another reminder that the mental health system is broken, not just in America, but everywhere. And more importantly, the different stigmas and assumptions that are placed on people who suffer from mental health issues are inhumane. My interpretation of the story is that like with other creative geniuses, mental health issues are excused, ignored, or belittled because the creations of those who suffer are more important continues to infuriate me.

Gee, this is the longest book review I've ever done. Rant done.

Fascinating subject and a well written biography. I found the book well paced and with a good level of detail.

It reads more like the script of what could be a really interesting documentary on McQueen. I feel that the prose which, once again, would be really good for TV isn't as good for a book; it ends up being somewhat cheesy, carries a lot of conjectures, and would beneficiate loads from a more robust visual complement (even though it comes with a series of selected pictures).

The story is brilliant and inspiring in so many ways and the book captures the complex charachter of Alexander McQueen. But I found it a bit boring because of the way the book was written. It was like readeing a 350 pages newspaper article.
