Davis is an awkward and naive 21 year old. She decides it's time to lose her virginity. She comes up with a plan to convince Crew, her brothers ex-best friend, to take her v-card. The only problem is, Crew is determined to derail her plans.
Davis and Crew have a lot of chemistry (lots of š¶ļø). It is obvious that they truly care about and love each other. They have a LOT of history, have always been a part of each other's lives.
I felt it was a bit to long and it got repetitive. I felt there was too much going on in the book. The first half was lighter and fun with the virginity deal and the tension between Crew and Davis. Then the book turned more serious with Memphis and Crew's past.
Crew believes that he isn't good enough for Davis. She is smart, beautiful, and educated, while he was kicked out for school and doesn't think he has anything to offer her. As kids, Crew, Davis, and her brother Memphis were inseparable. Crew grew up in an abusive home and was taken in by Davis parents. He was her first kiss and then he completely disappeared on her. She doesn't understand why he disappeared from her life. He has spent those 5 years trying to make something of himself in order to deserve to be with her. Her brother, Memphis, is an alcoholic and gambling addict. Crew has always been there to take the fall for him and clean up his mess. Memphis is a complete fuck up and we find out that he has dragged Crew down with him. Crew has been fighting to get himself out of the hole Memphis created. Crew is very quick to react with violence. Anyone looks a Davis, punch. Touches Davis, punch. It gets to be too much. Yes he is protective of her, but it goes way beyond. He boarders on controlling.
Davis is inexperienced and withdrawn. She has made her world very small. She is very lonely. For the first part of this book I felt like Davis was a little one dimensional. Her whole personality was that she doesn't know she is beautiful and likes candy. She wea supposed to seem sweet and innocent, but boardered on ridiculous how obvious she was. She is desperate to lose her v-card and eager to learn from Crew. He is more than willing to teach her everything š. Eventually we start to see more to her. She is quick and very smart. She loves fiercely and fights for those she loves with every fiber of her being.
I liked the angle taken on addiction in this book. We see it from the POV of the family who has been torn apart from a loved ones addiction. It is heartbreaking to learn what they have been through. The scenes between Memphis and Davis are gut wrenching to read. She loves him so much and his addiction puts them both in so much danger. She is his biggest supporter and she cannot comprehend how to help him. She feels like she is failing him and wants to trust him. Unfortunately his addiction has a strong hold on him and he is unable to break free.

This book was so entertaining and stressful! I appreciate the fact that there was no third-act break up!
Crew and Davis were adorable. Their love is strong, deep and soulful and you could really tell throughout the story.

I loved this one just as much as Say You Swear. This one has a lot more slow burn spice in it. The main characters were both loveable and they had a great supporting cast along for the ride. Another winner by Meagan Brandy for sure!
