As somebody that hates any sort of a self help book, and loathes the endless positivity of that entire genre, this was such a breath at fresh air.
I cannot stop word-vomiting to people about how amazing this book is.
Easily one of my favorite reeds of the year.

Audiobook time: ~5 hours | Review: 3.8

I waited too long to rate this book so I don't remember much of the details. I do remember being very engaged and interested when I first started it, but as the chapters went on, it got more and more difficult to pay attention to what I was listening to, and I had to re-listen to a few chapters. Rating it 3.8 stars because I really enjoyed parts of it.

There were enough nuggets of wisdom to keep me listening to the end but I didn’t love this book. I listened to the audio and the narrator was terrible. I hate the way he affects accents (please do not ever do the voice of Malala again) and women’s voices. I think the author tried to use the word fuck as many times as possible, which got really annoying real quick. Just the whole thing was not great for me, which was surprising because I have only heard people raving about this book. I did take away the advice that I need to choose where to give my fucks, and I appreciate that enough to give it two stars.

While the book is limited to a certain depth level, it still is a nice reminder of basic self-help principles and if you don’t mind the writing style it can be a decent intro self-help book. Won’t be groundbreaking but I found myself thinking “ok! I can do this!” at times.

If I had read one more comparison to anything sexual I would have done my head in.
