4.1 AVERAGE

I'm so sad this is the last book (right now) that Kelly Thompson will be writing for Jessica Jones, because she's got her voice down.

The last volume ended with Jessica Jones daughter turning purple. This brought up a lot of doubt. Is purple man still alive? Is the baby still Luke's? Did purple man do something to Jessica? It's a great build up and also let's us see the effects of what Purple Man did to his victims including Jessica. Who is behind it all? That you'll have to read to find out.

The build up is great. Looking into the mind of Jessica is great and a wonderful insight to it all. I also enjoyed the fighting moments, both brutal, and show off what Jessica can do. I thought too the art was pretty spot on. My negative would be the reveal, which I guessed, and didn't love. Everything else worked. A 4 out of 5.

Pretty darn good. The story was a good take on Purple Man vs. Jessica. The art was beautiful. The alternate art for when she was in a delusion was a great contrast. My only minor complaint was the main artist didn't render action very well, their imagery was a bit too static for that. But the needs of the story demanded their greatness at facial expressions much more than action, and they delivered. Good stuff, I wish Kelly Thompson could write JJ for a lot longer.

You know, there's something about the intimate horror of loving your r*pist's child, that's so painful to see played out (even if it turns out not to be the case). I love Jessica Jones, her mental struggles with reality, along with her genuine love for others. It's nice to see a story where loving ones family is the central drama, and the love just doesn't waver. It's sweet and horrifying and sweet again. It's 2am. Bravissimo.

Another decent entry in Kelly Thompson's Jessica Jones. Purple Daughter has the same plot issues as Blind Spot: unsatisfying conclusion and convenient plot devices. It also shares Blind Spot's strengths: great JJ characterization and art. Fans of the character will likely enjoy this comic.

actual rating: 3.5

Still not quite as good as most of the original run but I did like it better than Blindspot and I thought Thompson did some interesting stuff towards the end so I'll bump it up to 4 stars.

I enjoyed this.

I've been wanting to get back into comics, and this was a good one to jump back into! Especially since I've been in a bit of a reading slump.

Jessica Jones is one of my favorites, and it made me want to reread her Alias comics.

This book is another example of how special Jessica Jones can be. While dealing with "purple issues" has been done before, it shows how much of an effect Killgrave has of Jessica and always will. The book is filled with heart-wrenching predicaments that Jess and her family deal with. I didn't love the inclusion of one of the guest stars but it fit into what Jessica was up against. The art continues to impress. Overall, another really good read from Kelly Thompson.
