I'm enjoying this a lot. It's the perfect cozy mystery.

I also like the love triangle development.

Everly Swan's Christmastime open house was going quite well at the seaside cafe until the mayor was beaten to death with a gnome statue. To complicate matters, Everly's aunt is found standing over the corpse with the murder weapon in hand. More evidence points to Aunt Fran as the killer as Christmas draws in. It's up to Everly to clear Fran's name and save the season's cheer.

As my final seasonal read for the year, I had to scramble to get this read before the holidays ended. Not a problem - I devoured this book. Each page led me to the next. I found myself standing and reading in the kitchen while cooking, a sure sign of my involvement with the story.

Everly is as delightful as always. So too are her supporting characters who were equally well drawn. Christmas on Charm reminds me so much of our holidays on the island before it became overdeveloped. Much of the story dealt with the split between the islanders who wanted progress and those who preferred the old traditions. Hopefully, Charm will find a more effective balance than my hometown did.

It blows my mind Bree Baker created this island setting that closely echoes the realities and insular nature of living on a rock in the sea. The good, the bad - this midwestern has captured it accurately. I adore this series and looking forward to more in the future.

Highly recommended for cosy lovers. Seaside Café Mysteries are the epitome of this genre.
