The storytelling jumps around so much, and the author refuses to name her lover which makes following the endless stream of “she”s frustrating. The narrator is not likeable and very off-putting. This book may eventually be gay (slow burn) but it’s not queer. Not to my tastes.

One of THE most depressing and misogynistic books I have ever read. Interesting, for sure, but honestly, I could never imagine being so bored of life. This book eminates hopelessness to me.

Even better then the sequel (which I read first)
Constance writes a story without connection and without a plot but still there is progress.
The book is like a long poem full of love, misogyny, dread, sex and hopelessness. Surprisingly it’s also funny sometimes. I’m still thinking about Jean-Michels sperm (among other things)
