What a beautiful read! Every word, every line, every section has clearly been crafted with care and attention to detail. Wade uses language and concepts that could have been a barrier for readers outside of academia (for example, structuring section five like a mathematical proof), but instead made these concepts work for her story, made them human and literary and fun to read. I enjoy reading memoir but it often takes me a long time to get through one, I read "Just an Ordinary Woman Breathing" in a day and a half, I was so absorbed by the lives painted on the pages. This book is an unusually original bildungsroman that readers of all identities will enjoy, and as a queer woman, I feel that it is a must-read for women of all ages, straight or otherwise.
