I really enjoyed reading this especially for a YA book. I liked the characters, the storyline was cute and the subplots felt decently well-developed.

I wanted to stay up late reading this and had to force myself to go to bed and save more reading for another day! I liked the short chapters and the dual POVs from Molly and Alex. They’re so freaking cute with their banter!!

The novel is marketed as She’s All That meets What if it’s Us but the synopsis made me immediately think of the classic 80s movie Some Kind of Wonderful.

Their characters are so well written and they’re both book lovers, even better 🥰 I also appreciated the anxiety rep, and found myself relating a lot to Molly! Loved the character development throughout the book as well. I laughed, giggled, and cried throughout the book. The romance is a sloooow burn just how I like!

LOVE that the authors are married 😭🥰 Lippincott’s other works are on my TBR and Derrick published Forget Me Not this year which I’ve been seeing rave reviews for (I can’t wait to read more from them both). Honestly so so cute they wrote a book together and dedicated it to their relationship/one another 💗 The book is friends to lovers and that’s also the authors romance story 🥹

The ending was good, if a tiny bit rushed which is why I didn’t give it 5 stars. It’s for sure a favorite and one I’ll be recommending often! A sweet, feel good sapphic romance that doesn’t revolve around coming out which is always a nice change 💗

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 (4.5/5)

Tropes: Enemies to friends to lovers, dating/relationship coach, slow burn

Rep: WLW romance with both MCs identifying as lesbian, 1 MC is half-Korean and has social anxiety

The bit with Alex at the end felt a little like a bad dramatic movie to me and there were parts of the book where I couldn't bring myself to read more than 2 pages.

wahhh this was so cute!! i loved how a pretty normal (but clearly personal) setting was enhanced by the characters, i loved molly and alex aswell as their development- which was a bit on the nose and sort of told not shown a bit- but within the perspective of the characters and being in those realization moments makes sense. Highly Recommend

I was very surprised over this book in the absolute best way 😍 Couldn't ask for a better introduction to lesbian romance actually written by lesbians* 😍

I knew I liked the idea behind the plot  and I got excited to read it even more after discovering the authors are married.
It's a light-hearted reading, as the majority of the young adults are, I was scared the characters would be too childish since they were 18 years old and thankfully that wasn't the case (I would say the grownups were worse).
The love progress was great because I actually started the book shipping the original couples and midway I was won over by the hate-to-friends-to-love thing they developed (There was no cheating just to be clear).

Jim is my favourite side character and the second best thing after the Fake Dating trope is the Fake First Date trope 😍 it was great and I do want a date like that!

*(I read Carmilla last year, she was obviously a lesbian vampire but she was written by a man warning husbands to be careful of their wive's lady friends)

Okay so I had high hopes for this book, and although I enjoyed it, it felt like something was missing for most part of the story 😅

Like I liked the writing style, and I loved the rep, I loved the two MC's own individual character arcs. But the two of them together? The romance? The chemistry? I wasn't that convinced 😭 I mean up until 60-70%, I didn't love them as much as I imagined, and their chemistry was lacking (altho I did swoon in a few lines/scenes back there). I guess I wanted more?

Still a solid read tho. I definitely stayed for the character arcs and back stories 😆
