4.4 - I was so so SO excited to see this book had come out - even more so with the focus shifting to Jean. This was good - as always, Nora is an excellent writer and the way she fleshes out her characters helps the reader grow a strong attachment to them.

There were many moments that were so awful that reading them felt like a gut punch; there were also many sharp one liners and barbed comments that had been screeching and snapping my fingers — so yeah, the usual when reading any AFTG book.

I will say as much as I enjoyed this, it feels incomplete. I really hope we’re getting another follow-up to Jeans story, because this book provides a LOT of set up to backgrounds, conflicts, and problems that don’t get resolved. I want to know more about Jeremy’s background - he clearly has some skeletons in the closet that were only hinted at. Now that he’s finally taking some baby steps, I want to see Jean actively make progress in his recovery. I want to know how the season will pan out for the Trojans.

An excellent book, but I feel like we’ve been left more questions than answers, so I’m really hoping there’s more to come.
