This didn’t really live up to the hype of what I was expecting it to be. While a quick read, and an excellent study in character development, I was super connected to the protagonist though I did enjoy watching his struggle for meaning. What kept the book from a higher rating was that he essentially ended his journey right back where he began and seemingly learned very little despite his adventures.

Some parts were really cool and philosophical even though they were written by a white guy with a surface level knowledge of Buddhism and some parts were really lame because they were written by a white guy with a surface level knowledge of Buddhism. I can't say it didn't teach me anything, but I definitely didn't love the process of taking in these lessons.

"Words do not express thoughts very well. they always become a little different immediately they are expressed, a little distorted, a little foolish." So i have nothing to say about this book except gratitude for existing.
