Who would have thought, that Edward's thoughts could be as mundane as the thoughts of the humans around him?
Well I was hoping they would be a little more exciting, but turns out my imagination is more wild than this book. Pretty dull read with only about 200 odd pages being actually engaging and of interest to me, mostly the parts about memories from the past and the hunt situation.
It is pretty frustrating that this book still makes me feel angsty as fuck about the whole situation with him and Bella, but it also annoys the hell out of me that everything would be simplified if they just spoke openly about matters, so they could understand where the other stands. Look, really what I'm saying is it would have been better if Edward could read Bella's mind it would have made for a lot less "does she? does she not?" type angst.
This sits at a solid 3 stars, it's not the best thing I have read, but also not the worst. Just pretty "meh" and unfortunate that vampires were so dull in this fictional world.

I am hater of this book. Edward’s inner monologue is exhausting, how he talks about Rosalie disgusts me and overall like the books from Bella’s POV are 10x better. I appreciate the insights we get but I can’t stand being in Edward’s head
I wonder how many people read this book and wished that they could have read it right after reading Twilight. Having read the first 12 chapters after Stephenie Meyer posted them on her website after the leak, I was expecting better. I’m not sure if I changed too much, if the writing changed too much, or if it was a little bit of both, but the vibe of this book was just off for me.
Having really liked Christian Grey’s perspective in the second trilogy of the Fifty Shades series, I kind of expected to like this book better than Twilight. I did not. While I appreciated the extra things like really getting to know the Cullen family and getting to see their side of things and the obvious plus of getting to see Edward’s side of the experience, there was a lot of this book that was just drawn out and boring. I get it — she smells REALLY good, better than anyone else ever.
It has been a couple of weeks since I finished it, so the last example of being drawn out to the point of boredom that comes to mind is the excruciatingly long set of pages from the airport to the dance studio to save Bella. Did we really need all of that? It felt so unnecessary and like those scenes in the Fast and the Furious serious where they just destroy cars for the shock value. It wasn’t needed. There were other scenes like that as well. The book didn’t need to be that long.
Maybe it’s just me mixing up dialogue between the book and movie, but some of the scenes felt different to me. I was expecting one thing and found something else.
It wasn’t a bad book, but I definitely would have enjoyed it more years ago when I was excited about the Twilight series. Reading it now, it lost some of its luster for me. Speaking of luster, is it just me or did she change the idea of how vampires look in the sunlight? Wasn’t there supposed to be lots of sparkle?
I’m glad I read it, but I was disappointed. I expected a lot more from this one.

No guilt, I straight up loved it. I want more Edward perspective. I also want an Alice and Jasper spin off. I’ll stay in the twilight universe and my youth forever I don’t mind.
This book was so cringy I had to stop reading for weeks at a time but twilight has a special place in my heart so I stuck it out

i can’t recall the exact amount of times i thought to myself, shut UP, edward. don’t get me wrong, im team edward all the way, and most of the time i cant expect him to shut up bc it’s just his inner monologues, but gee. this book was so repetitive. i had to reference the original twilight so i could track the story and not his circular thoughts. yes, im aware he’s a vampire and these things probably do get redundant to them, but honestly, edward’s understanding of things was shadowed once we got to the game and really got to understand how alice and jaspers gifts functioned.
