“…for the majority of the human species, and for tens of thousands of years, the idea that humanity includes every human being on The face of the Earth does not exist at all. The designation stops at the border of each tribe, or linguistic group, sometimes even at the edge of a village.” - Claude Levi-Strauss

This was such a good nuanced look at the motivations and justifications of the IRA and the demons they lived with because of it. But the thing that struck me most was how pervasive the conflict was and is, and how it’s something born from a famine of centuries ago and still alive and well today. History is so close and so complicated. It’s actual people’s lives.
