The characters are charming, but having read both Black and White now, the only advantage I can see to taking two books to get this far is that the much more interesting Breakdown arc could be published in between the two. Which, actually, doesn't even seem like an advantage, because Breakdown could have been published first and then a tighter written version of Black and White could be released afterward as a single book. Although the climax of each title was exciting, it otherwise felt like reading two middle books in a row. I can only hope that the payoff in Red will be worth all this set up.
