Ok, before I review this, let’s get one thing out of the way. I’m on this author’s mailing list and she has said this is NOT dark romance. Just because the word “darkly” is used does NOT mean it’s dark romance. There are some dark themes like the abuse Skylar takes from her mother & Jack but again NOT dark romance.
I thought this book had real potential and I love enemies to lovers especially with one of the main characters being a vampire. How original! However, the transition from enemies to lovers didn’t quite work for me. Even at 70%, they had barely kissed and it was just a bit slow for me. Once Skylar learns about the vampirism, I wish Micah could have let her in more or that it would pick up from there but instead it dragged for me.
The writing was really good though, only a few errors and I’m interested in what else this author puts out. I just think this one needed to be tweaked a little bit to fully hit the deliciousness that is enemies to lovers. It fell just a bit short for me.
