I started this book ages ago. I paused it because I found it a bit slow. I haven't picked it up since, so I'm DNFing.
I tried so hard yall. Every day for a whole week and I’m just so. fucking. bored.
It was personally hard to read due to the author's writing style

I got 153 pages in and it was a slog. It was making me sleepy, that usually means I don't care about the story or characters.

Beautifully written and a fine example of literature - but dragged a bit
A long, deep read. This story moved slowly, but. beautifully, through the lives of Evar and Livira as they use the portals in their respective libraries (one in the same though) to understand how the library has guided, controlled, and created history. This is a very clever, very deep read. I enjoyed how the characters began to understand how their perspective may limit their views as well as their choices.

The twists and turns of Mark Lawrence's mind are a marvelous thing.
Evar and Livira have nothing in common but The Library where they meet by oure coincidence. Once within, they embark on a time through when and where that leads them in cycles and circles back to one another.
Strong world building and that typical Lawrence cheek that slips between fiction and history of the world. I was once again pleasantly surprised by the twists in the story and the way Lawrence makes sense of this world and his own creations. I adore the connections he draws between seemingly separate things and moments and the way he weaves our world into those he has created. Plus, he quoted himself and his fictional characters at the beginning of several different chapters- love the confidence!
