It was pretty interesting. We meet Lore, who is the last of the Perseus line and right now she is moving around during the Agon. This happens every 7 years where hunters try to kill the 9 gods whether real or fake and take their power as their own. I believe that is what is going on. Athena comes to Lore for help in order to take down Wrath, the false god of Ares, and find the Aegis to end the Agon. I enjoyed the overall plot. Sometimes I would get lost in the names and such because I don't know all the gods nd such off the top of my head and what their powers are. I have limited Greek mythology knowledge. But I still enjoyed the fights and betrayals and the lil romance. I do wonder what happens in the next Agon with what happened to Lore, but this is a standalone so we might never find out.
Ok spoilers below.
Omg when we find out Athena actually made it up that Artemis had attacked her. She knew Lore had the Aegis and wanted to sneakily get it from her. Also when Gil turned out to be Hermes, that was shocking too. I still don't really understand why he hid Lore. To protect her? And then the end when Athena killed Wrath and then Lore basically killing Athena and taking her powers. Wild wild wild! And Apollo letting Castor kill him too. I do hope the Agon is over though. That way Lore and Castor won't be hunted.

Loved this book!!
That was my first dive into Greek mythology stories and it got me hooked.
I can highly recommend it- lore is an authentic protagonist and the storyline of the entire book is magic for me.
And the ending…

I hated this book
Had to DNF after realizing that my quick break from the book turned into me not picking it up for 7 months and no longer having the desire to finish it. Really wanted to love this one but the pacing is difficult to get through. You go from sprinting to crawling, sprinting, then back to crawling. Plot points drag and dialogue gets repetitive.
medium-paced
This book has a fantastic plot. The plot and the characters kept the book entertaining and interesting. My favorite characters would happen to be Miles and Van due to their personalities and roles in the book. I'm not used to reading this type of writing style and normally read books that are longer, though this book drew me in with the Greek Mythology references. I rated this 4 out of 5 stars because I'm not a huge fan of romance books and didn't know it contained romance in it. I did like the fact that the romance didn't play a huge part in the story and still focused on other aspects of the plot and character building. Overall, a great book.

The book follows Lore aka Melora trying to lead a life that is not defined by Agon, a hunt that takes place every seven years to gain the powers of the Gods who betrayed Zeus. With each of the different houses founded by the family of the Greek heroes who were given a chance to hunt and claim the powers of the gods out for blood and glory, Lore is faced with a chance to team up with Athena to avenge her family’s death by killing Wrath and protect her friends Miles and Castor.
It was an action packed, fast paced urban fantasy. I felt like the plot and the characters were all over the place. I found them both messy and confusing at times. Both lacked consistencies. I think the romance between the side characters was better written than the one between the main characters. Both the characters of Lore and Castor lacked depth. Probably because both the characters were young and didn’t know what is happening themselves. But both Castor and Miles are very sweet.
I liked how certain new and old gods redeemed themselves. It goes to show how much humanity can help oneself as much as others. I think reading this book requires a bit of prior knowledge about Greek mythology. There was not much of world building in this book, probably because of the action-oriented plot. I liked how most of the chapters in the book ended with a cliff hanger. The author knew how to keep the readers hooked to the book for sure with her writing.
