I could not connect with the characters. They needed more scenes together that were not purely political war talk to make them feel enjoyable. Very high stakes content but I didn’t care what happened during the fights because I didn’t care about the characters.

This was a really good, engaging book. I loved the Greek mythology and the characters. The plot was interesting and not at all what I expected. The only downside is I had difficulty imagining some scenes. The imagery was a bit awkward in parts and they expected you to have some knowledge of New York City's landscape. It wasn't a deal breaker, but I sometimes had to reread some scenes because what I had imagined didn't make sense at all.

To my pleasant surprise, the second half of this book managed to reel me in. Every seven years the Greek Gods become mortal for a week, and if anybody manages to kill them, they gain their power and replace them as a God. Cray cray! The plot itself was not as thrilling as the concept, but it was still enjoyable. There were some pretty dark moments that made the story hit a little harder. I wish I had liked this more but I found the cast of characters lacking and didn't really care what happened to them.
