All of this feels so different to anything I've experienced, and yet I still found ways to relate to Bri. Fantastic book.

During a time when this book (along with The Hate U Give) was needed the most, the story was too real for me to continue reading it. I'm glad to have finally consumed this story and cannot wait for the next one. If you haven't read any of Angie's books I highly recommend you do so.

Angie Thomas is a YA wizard.

yeah get it!!!

Angie Thomas called this book her diss record. That’s all you need to know! Hooks you in from the start and I couldn’t help but devour the content. She spins gold.

Angie Thomas knows how to write a story. It took me a little while to get into this one, but once I did, I couldn’t put it down. I’m pretty sure I read the last 300 pages over the past two days. It’s worth the wait!

Picked up this book by Angle Thomas- author of The Hate You Give. I appreciated that this was a stand alone novel but she set the story in Garden Heights (same setting as T.H.U.G) the characters talk about events from the previous book- yet this isn’t a sequel. It’s about Bri a sixteen year old who aspires to be a rapper/ r&b artist.
Enjoyed it!

In all fairness, this book wasn't bad, it's still a solid read. But Thomas' latest release for me did not feel on the level that THUG did.

Following up THUG was always going to set up high expectations and this had all the potential but only seemed to just glaze over moments without much depth that I just really struggled to care much about what was happening

Amazing. I didn’t want to put it down (I did so I could go to work). I love it just as much as The Hate You Give, maybe more.

This was so good! I had very high expectations following The Hate U Give and this did not disappoint. I loved all of the characters, the incredibly necessary/relevant plot, and the overall message of this book. As I said in an earlier update, this author does a remarkable job of talking about tough topics without it feeling like a lecture. I very highly recommend this book for YA and adults alike.
