Such a great and raw story of facing your fears and voices of dissent. Every dream is within reach!
This one is sooooooooo goooood. I could go on and on about how wonderful this book is. From brilliantly written raps, to loving yet complex portrayals of family, to its clear setting in 2018, this book is perfect. Just read. It’s brilliant.

On The Come Up was fantastic and I loved it so much!
Bri was a character that I definitely loved! I loved that she had a dream and that she wanted to achieve it and stop at nothing to get there. Yes, sometimes, I got frustrated with her because it felt like she was beginning to forget who she was but, she was in a desperate situation with her family and I understand why she did some of the things that she did.
But, I am glad that come the end, she really was this incredible character who knew herself and knew what she was worth! Similar to Starr, she’s a character that young teens can look up to.
Angie Thomas’ books are just beautiful! I’m glad that YA authors are not scared to talk about important, difficult issues that not only teens but society are facing on a daily basis and I definitely think that she is one of the best authors on the scene currently and I will definitely read everything she comes out with in the future!!
