I felt like the author overdid it with her use of flowery verbiage throughout this book. She definitely has skills when it comes to turning a phrase, but I felt like the story was bogged down by the dramatic flair of the descriptive language. It could have been reduced by 25%.

This book was just not my favorite. The criminal trial was the backdrop to the love affair rather than the other way around. I was hoping for a more heavily detailed murder trial with drips of romance to keep me coming back. It was the other way around.

But honestly, neither the trial nor the affair were all that exciting. It was very believable, so if that’s your thing this is your book. But if you’re looking for jaw dropping or unpredictable, reach for something else.

If you need a quick read and you like romance, this is for you. But if you’re looking for smut, look further. This won’t exactly get your motor running.

It was like a train wreck; disturbing and yet you can't quite look away. It was an easy fast read, but not one character was likable and there was no real plot to speak of. And then it just ends with zero resolution. Overall a very depressing story with a lot of lose ends. It's written fairly well, but it definitely lacks depth. Not a fan.

The juiciest thing I've read in a long time, and it's not close. Gripping, wrenching, tragic. Smart, too. I had to keep covering the rest of the page with my hand so my eyes wouldn't skip ahead (and I cried twice).

Such an interesting and unique story. I loved the writing, it was strangely impersonal - I mean we don’t even get names until part two - but somehow really worked for me. The characters are complex and flawed. Definitely worth the read!

This book is deeply smart, incredibly unnerving, and I honestly don't know what to think. I hated it for how it made me feel but couldn't put it down. Therefore, I think that must mean that it was good.

A page turner I read in one sitting. I'm glad I didn't read the full flap, I was sold on the premise of two jurors having an affair during a murder trial in Central Florida.

I did find myself questioning the author's choice in writing the twins as adopted children since the whole adopted evil child trope paints a harmful picture.

I found this book poetic and riveting.
