After reading an ARC of this book, I borrowed the audio book from the library.

The narration was absolute perfection! I loved every minute of the audio. I'll be searching out more from the narrator.

My ARC review is below:

I really enjoyed this mystery. It started a tad slow for me, but had me hooked around 20%. I really enjoyed Sloan and her super close family. Her parents were adorable! Loved seeing a happy sister relationship. Add in the Littlefield brothers as love interests for the sisters and the cast was perfect! We're given an inside view of the killers and their thought processes which I found interesting. I loved how Sloane and Nash communicated and worked together to discover the victim's connections. In some ways, it reminded me of Roarke and Eve from the In Death series. Nash, like Roarke, had no issues with being with a competent woman who didn't need saving. The ending was fast paced compared to the rest of the book, but it was satisfying.

Kind of a bummer. The overall pacing was a bit off. I’ve gotten used to Nora’s “formula” but something about this just felt off. Or maybe it was just boring?

I was invested enough when I was reading that first day, but then didn’t really have a huge desire the next day to pick it back up. If it wasn’t for book club, I am not 100% sure I’d have prioritized finishing.

We start off with a shooting and then we kinda mosey on through her recovery, meeting the rest of the characters, and doing a whole bunch of home renovation. Boring AF honestly. I don’t really expect much from Nora when it comes to the romance, and so the sort of instalove with them didn’t bother me as much but it also didn’t really add anything to the story because they were kinda meh as a couple.

But the plot? I wish we had spent more time focused on the investigation and finding out who the bad guys are than we did. Those parts were interesting. And I know some people don’t care for it, but I actually liked the chapters from the bad guys’ POV. There were wackadoodle and I kind of wish we got more background on why TF they were doing what they were doing and how they met.

Nora Roberts never misses when it comes to romantic suspense, and Hidden Nature is no exception. This one strikes just the right balance between gripping tension and heartfelt romance. The characters are likable and relatable, and I was fully invested in their journey. The antagonists, though? Absolutely chilling. Their motives were so disturbing I had to skip a few scenes—definitely not for the faint of heart!

If you love your thrillers with a side of romance and just the right emotional depth, this one’s for you. I definitely recommend it to fans of romantic suspense. Nora Roberts novels are my guilty pleasure, and Hidden Nature reminded me exactly why.

Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the E-ARC in exchange for my honest thoughts.

With a strong heroine, a realistic romance, and a compelling mystery, this should have been a home run for a Roberts fan. Unfortunately, the cartoonish villain ruined it for me. Clara would have fit well in an In Death novel. But here either more mystery or more substance was needed.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for my copy. These opinions are my own.
