Oh my gosh wow worst book ever (actually great) no but already knowing the ending made me so upset actually so hard to read like physically ill I did not want to know what happened - no wonder caleana is the way she is (I miss Sam)

Oh my god!
I read this first DO not come for me.
Loved this so much. Celaena is epic. I loved her journey and seeing her stand against arobynn and ruin his agreement was just SO good yes she’s an assassin but she’s got morals okay? . The world building was fabulous, really enjoyed the adventures she went on and her journey to where she ended up had me on the edge of my seat.
I sobbed.
That is all.
Sobbed.

I have no words right now. I’m gonna need to be left alone to collect my feelings about this book. I knew what was coming at the end from reading TOG and COM first, and I’m unwell. Absolutely heartbreaking

I honestly don’t even want to talk about this book it hurt my feelings so bad :’( heartbreak for Sam & Celaena UGH I knew it was coming but it didn’t stop from hurting so bad when he died. I think the last story was the only truly captivating one IMO!!!! The other 4 were definitely amazing in their own capacity and had characters and details important to the rest of the series but they dragged on so long I was so bored until story 4. Sarah J Maas has a talent in every story she writes to drag on the beginning and then have the end be so intense and amazing it’s jaw dropping what she comes up with. Her writing is stellar and this one is def high on my list of favorites in this series.

I think this shows the true depth of Celaena’s character and her background and the trauma and deception she’s had to deal with to be the person she is and the facade she hides behind in the rest of the series. I will say though for the best assassin in the world she’s not that smart when it comes to figuring out traps or WHO betrayed her like cmon girl … he’s been doing it to you your whole life. Don’t even get me started on Arobynn and his manipulation between beating her senseless and then the next day telling her he loves her to the next day him setting a trap for her and Sam because he doesn’t want to ‘share his belongings’ GROSS!!!! Never trust a sneaky snake ginger!!

All in all this book holds so much depth and the Easter eggs it holds for the whole series is too good if you know what you’re looking for … cough cough the pine and snow & rush of wind aka best book boyfriend ever <3 I do wish there was a 6th novella of her time in Endovier because that’s what intrigued me the most about her past other than all the drama with Arobynn and it’s just left as a big gap between her arriving at the salt mines and then going to the glass castle :/

Honorable quote mention: pg. 364 from Sam “We have all the time in the world.” WHYYYYY that was just a rude quote with depressing foreshadowing :(

Also by Sam on pg. 377: “When I’m scared out of my wits, I tell myself: My name is Sam Cortland … and I will not be afraid” :((((( probably one of the most important lines in the whole TOG series with the depth it has on Celaena’s character.

I read this as the 3rd book in the series and am glad that I did. Everything made sense from the 1st 2 books, and I liked having some ah ha moments of understanding. I'm totally invested in Celaena's story now.
