Solid 4 ⭐️
As a person who’s always been fascinated by the weather, I really enjoyed this workplace romance. The matchmaking element was fun, and balanced out nicely with the FMC’s personal struggles with mental health. I loved the MMC and his relationship with his daughter, and how that mirrored what Ari was wanting but was too afraid to hope for. Although there were some elements that were clearly just there to move the plot along, it was a solid 4 star book.

It is so refreshing to read a book that normalizes depression, therapy & anti-depressants. I adore Ari and her journey throughout the book.

I am so incredibly disappointed with this book. I have absolutely loved the YA books I have read by her but this was not for me.

A round of applause for the body positivity throughout this book.

The best representation of a mental illness in a book I’ve read in a while, and without retraumatizing me! Russ and Ari are my life force

This book was super cute! It balanced the right amount of fluff and for once, I wasn’t mad about the major conflict at the end. I deeply identified with Ari’s struggles with depression and figuring out how to find love without it holding her back. Russel was just so wonderful although I do wish he would have been a liiiitle more fleshed out. I can
oftentimes be bothered by the kitschy scenarios in contemporary romances but this time the characters were compelling enough to get me past that.

I was a bit nervous to read this one because despite every RLS book being a 4 ⭐️ read or above, this one doesn’t have the greatest reviews. But, I’m so happy I listened to the audiobook, it was great. Really good narrator. I really liked this book, I always love RLS books and I think the base of that is that she’s truly a good writer. *minor spoilers ahead*
This is probably the most realistic and average couple I’ve ever read about in a romantic sense and I enjoyed that. Ari and Russ are just very real people. Their story was cute, funny at times and the spicy scenes dialogue was a touch cringey but that made it just that more enjoyable. I always like how inclusive RLS books are, and how she touches on important topics.
This book partly has a Set it Up vibe, with trying to get the bosses together, which I really enjoyed. It was light and funny, a good way to offset the heavier topics. I loved Ari and Russ getting to know each other, I like how RLS always writes real, likeable characters and very sweet and lovely male leads. I loved Russ being a bigger guy and the insecurities that come along with that, that’s not very common in romance books.
My only problem with this is I didn’t love the third act conflict, it felt very forced on Ari’s side. She almost backed Russ into a corner, and even though she acknowledged that, it still felt unnatural. Also, why is she babysitting when there’s a stepparent in the picture?
I loved the small twist at the end and the ending all together. I liked Ari going to therapy and talking about her mental health, but I was a touch confused on how she was engaged but never shared that she had depression, like how can you hide that? I think her depression is talked about way more than it’s actually seen in the story so it didn’t exactly match. She had a couple hard stretches but came out of them.
Anyways, liked it a lot and highly recommend.
