I love this series. I know many reviewers aren’t happy because this is a second chance romance and don’t think the hero deserved his second chance and they are angry because he was out screwing other females while the heroine remained a virgin…well, it was by her choice not to sleep with anyone and come on…he is a young male in his prime…does anyone honestly believe that any male would be celibate for almost a decade?! Lol This is a Barbarian alien race after all. Anyway, that being said, I think the author did a great job with the storyline and I can’t wait to dive into book 5!

Read this out of order.
I had fun reading this. It has angst, cool smut scenes, and a believable sort of 2nd chance romance. That is, the MMC did all the work to win over the FMC. And it took a while.

My Review (May contain spoilers, Fair warning upon reading this review)
Broken by the Horde King was a superb read here. I really had a good time with the second chance elements to this one here. And there is some groveling for those that need those in order to read a romance. I really found this one to be the most interesting because I never expected this type of dynamic with the style of world building that the author has used so far. Most pairings the two main characters haven't known each other for as long as these two have. The whole childhood sweethearts was so fascinating to me. It was hard at times seeing those flashbacks.
There is something that I love so deeply about a second chance with some unrequited love mixed in here. The hero has his reasons for hurting our heroine as he does, but we don't see those motivations until much later in the books. So its very hard to see why he treats her the way that he does. My heart wept for this heroine, who had been dealt some rough roads in her life, I do think she took a bit too long dragging out the grovel, but it definitely wasn't too short. I appreciated the way that other characters were implemented within the story. The romance was quite emotional at times, but there was also an air of mystery along the way as well.
Overall I found Broken by the Horde King to be a superb read and it kept me fascinated from beginning to end.

There is something about this series that just hits for me. I really loved how Maeva and Kiran were childhood friends. Having Maeva grow up engrained Dakkari culture was so fascinating, I love learning more about their culture and history. Having Maeva be a skilled healer was such a good choice, and I found myself wanting more of that storyline.
I wish there was slightly more groveling from Kiran, even if a lot of it was him not being informed about Maeve’s mother, he still did her dirty.

you know normally i don’t love the tropes in this installment but i really enjoyed this one! i love when the heroine is a healer i think it’s not seen as much and it give them a more nurturing personality. great overall!
