There was nothing wrong with this book but it just didn't do anything for me. Maeva's journey through processing her emotions and becoming a confident mokkari (or however it was spelled) was lovely, and the side characters were fun and pleasant. The romance was fine, it moved at a very confusing pace but it was sweet. I have no memory of the smut and I'm pretty sure I skipped every sex scene after the first one.
This book was bland and alright. Sorry. Cute familial relationships, side characters, emotional discovery, and career journey. Everything else was utterly forgettable (including the Horde King who had no personality that I can remember at all). ML was a controlling douche at the beginning and then became a bland action figure by the end.

This was my least favorite in the series. I don’t mind second chance romances. I think it’s fun to read the tension between characters and to see how they resolve their past issues. However, there has to be character growth which didn’t happen in this book. The ML has almost no redeemable qualities. It was always about what he wanted from when he was young and through out the whole book. He didn’t listen to what the FL wanted, and he always took away her autonomy. He admitted that being with other women felt unfaithful yet he still did it. He actively destroyed relationships the FL had with other men even though he was with other people. Ruined her chances of being a doctor in her town. (Book said she wouldn’t have gotten it anyways, but he made sure to cement that decision) Took away her own tent/space, and forced her to share a tent with him. She didn’t want to kiss him, and he forced a kiss on her anyways. The book conveniently always made an excuse for his actions, but I can only see him as being extremely manipulative.
Honestly, I don’t know what to say. This is a genre that snuck up in me, one I find I throughly enjoy, and Zoey Draven is my go to, will read every book author for this genre.
I loved this couple, particularly the hero who’s heart always knew what it wanted even when his brain told him differently. I love how hard he worked to win back the love of the heroine, never giving up on her or them. I loved the faith they had in each other, even after all the heartache and that ultimately the love of the heroine was still as strong as the first moment she knew that he was hers.
I am also enjoying the turn the world is taking and I am so curious to see where Zoey takes us as the world evolves! I’m so ready for the next book!

This series just keeps getting better!
Dang this was so hot and I lapped up every word. I didn’t think it could get any better than the ones before it. I WAS SO WRONG! OMG this was amazing! I highlighted so much. I hated that there was no resolution with his lomma and pateres. The challenges so heartfelt. Extra points for good grovel. I enjoyed it so much. I highly recommend this book.

This was a meh book for me. I don’t think I’m a second chance romance kind of reader. On the spice scale, I’d say 3/5. Had some scenes that were good but not really descriptive and long.
This book was a fun time. So much better than the last one (I hated it, the conflict baffled me) but this one was a good second chance romance (sort of).

Book content in terms of the description 'rasp' - 197861498127409/10 holy fucking jesus I didn't realise that every single character in this book needed to rasp their sentences. Kiran, Maeva, her sister, her dad, the animals, the red mist, the grave of my body that has passed away because of how many times I read the word 'rasped' please this series would actually be good if it wasn't for this.
