I dont usually like second chance romances but the angst at the beginning before the ultimate reunion was amazing.
I didn't think they touched on the reason why Kiran was angry at her for coming onto him in the beginning enough. It felt like they were hinting at the fact that his parents didn't want him with a human when you find out that his mom kept him from her mom's funeral and the fact that her mom was pissed when Maeve presented her goblet to him at the party. He was downright cruel when she kissed/stripped for him the first time and I don't find "I was scared of my emotions" a compelling enough answer. Idk.

I've come to love this series so much, and this book was everything I'd hoped it would be and more. I was so obsessed with Kiran and Maeva's tumultuous relationship. As young friends, their connection was filled with laughter and comfort, a sense of stability that they both looked for, but as they matured and grew apart, that sense of safety was gnarled by grief, remorse, shame, and anger. There was so much unspoken sorrow between them, but once Kiran finds his way back to his seffi, he finds it impossible to let her go again.
I absolutely LOVED everything about their romance. Both Kiran and Maeva felt the absence of the other in their daily lives while apart, and the unwanted longing and memories brought about both calm and heartache. The emotions they experienced when reunited were so real, and I thrived on their shared anguish and hidden longing. Maeva was such a strong heroine, and once Kiran realized his destiny, his determination to secure his mate was passionate and so endearing. Their story of love and forgiveness has been my favorite so far, and I am so excited to see where the rest of the series takes us🖤
Tropes: fated mates, second chance romance, tortured hero, headstrong heroine, forced proximity, she falls first/he falls harder, hurt/comfort, touch her and die, mutual pining, 'it's always been you', forbidden love, alien romance, slow burn, STEAMY🔥

This book was a fun time. So much better than the last one (I hated it, the conflict baffled me) but this one was a good second chance romance (sort of).
