A majority of the stories were a chore to get through. It's too bad, because Wehunt clearly shows talent with restraint in the title story, "Greener Pastures". It may be the best short story I've read all year.

I admire Wehunt's writing ability. He finds descriptions for things that are so spot-on yet I wouldn't think of in a hundred years. Unfortunately some of the stories seem to trip over themselves (or maybe I'm just that impatient with literary horror now).

This horror collection fell short for me. It was a little too abstract, and I spent more time struggling to make sense of the stories than being scared. October Film Haunt was the one standout for me. Creepy, tense, and definitely horrifying.

A few of these I could have read with the lights on. I hated how they all ended to so abruptly but then again that's how so many short stories go.

I just didn’t find any of the stories interesting, they were boring and not really horror.

Greener Pastures is short story writing at its finest. The stories are vastly different but you can hear Wehunt's voice in all of them. He mixes horror, dread, and deep sadness.

I really enjoyed this collection! It came in my September Nocturnal Readers box (highly recommend checking out if you're a horror fan). I'd never heard of the author or the publisher, so I went into the collection unsure what I'd find. Wehunt's stories are definitely surreal, a la Borges, and there isn't a clear answer as to what's happening, but I liked that. And, his writing is quite good.

If you want a weird, spooky collection to check out for October, I'd recommend this!
