Exquisite. TJR is such a great storyteller, and her vivid renderings of SoCal, fame, wealth and chaos are exhilarating. I loved all the characters (except Brandon) and genuinely wanted the best for them.
It took me a while to finish this as I wanted to wait for the right moment to really get into it, and I think it was a good note to leave 2024 on.
Although, I understand why some have found it to be “poorly written” due to the simplicity of the prose, I still think the dynamic, interconnected world Reid creates does a lot to draw an audience in and keep them invested.

I did really enjoy the premise and main characters, but I felt like there was a ton of filler that didn't need to be there to advance the plot in the middle. I also got so lost once the party started, I could barely keep track of everyone. Other than the pieces of the party not focused on the siblings, the book was easy to follow even on audio. 3.25 stars.

It's certainly not a bad book but compared to Evelyn Hugo by TJR there's just something missing. I didn't like the pacing - the first half of the book felt dragging (but I loved the flashbacks that appeared more and more often) and the second half was kinda rushed with extremely short (1-2 pages) chapters. There were also so many celebrities at the party I did not care for at all and while I get that TJR added them for the Hollywood feeling, I couldn't bother with them. I also missed something like a big reveal or turnpoint. Let's see whether Daisy Jones and Carrie Soto are more like Evelyn Hugo…
