I like his restaurants and I appreciate Keith McNally’s Instagram presence but I don’t know what the point of putting this book out into the world really is. If you’re curious about McNally’s upbringing, you’ll get that. If you want to know about his divorce and stroke and suicide attempt you’ll get that too. But in the most painstaking, plain, repetitive way possible. You won’t get much about the restaurants or food if that’s what you came for but you will get many name drops. He’s not a good writer and I didn’t find this interesting in the slightest despite being curious about the man.  This book should’ve just been a condensed letter to his family or something. I’m glad he opened his restaurants but I don’t feel like he owes the public anything or has a compelling story to tell. Or if he does , he didn’t tell it well.
